New-Gen 7-Seater Duster Bigster Spied in India – Launch, Specs & Details

The excitement for SUV lovers just got bigger as the all-new 7-seater Duster, globally known as the Bigster, has been spotted testing on Indian roads for the first time. Renault’s sub-brand Dacia unveiled the Bigster in Europe last year, and now its Indian debut hints that families wanting more space and style will soon have a fresh choice on the market.

While the next-gen 5-seater Duster is already in the pipeline for India, this bigger version promises more space, a bolder design, and practical touches that make it ideal for large families and road trip lovers alike.

Bigger Dimensions, Bigger Comfort

Compared to the regular Duster sold in Europe, the Bigster lives up to its name with larger proportions. This means a roomier cabin and extra boot space. In Europe, the SUV offers 667 litres of luggage capacity with all seats in place. Its rear bench folds in a 40:20:40 split, allowing more flexibility for passengers and cargo.

The SUV rides on stylish 19-inch wheels and comes with a strong and planted stance. One standout design detail is the Y-shaped daytime running lights and a two-tone look with a black roof, giving it a modern vibe. Adding to its eco-friendly image, recycled ‘Starkle’ polypropylene is used on parts like the side cladding and bumpers – a nice touch for sustainability lovers.

Premium Cabin Loaded with Features

Inside, the Bigster packs practical comfort with segment-leading headroom and legroom. It comes loaded with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a seven-inch digital instrument cluster, flat-bottom steering wheel and multiple airbags for added safety.

Expect enough space for seven adults to sit comfortably, making it perfect for big families or folks who love road trips.

Hybrid Options for a Cleaner Drive

In Europe, the Bigster starts with the TCe 140 setup – a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system, producing 140 hp. For adventure seekers, there’s the TCe 130 4×4 version with all-wheel drive and a five-mode Terrain Control system. It offers drive modes like Snow, Mud/Sand, Off-Road, Eco and Auto, along with hill descent control for tough downhill routes.

The range-topping Hybrid 155 combines a four-cylinder petrol motor with two electric motors and a 1.4 kWh battery, delivering 155 hp and 170 Nm torque. Dacia claims this system lets the Bigster run in pure-electric mode for up to 80% of city driving – a big plus for eco-conscious families.

For India, the Bigster is likely to borrow its engine lineup from the upcoming Duster. If the hybrid system comes too, it could give buyers a great balance of fuel savings and lower emissions.

Launch Timeline and Expected Positioning

Nissan will also build a compact B-segment MPV and a midsize SUV based on this same platform, which makes it clear that the Bigster’s India launch will take a little more time. Expectations suggest a possible arrival by late 2026 or early 2027.

When launched, the Bigster will slot in as an affordable three-row SUV that offers rugged styling, a big boot, practical features and the promise of Renault-Dacia’s proven engineering. For buyers wanting a no-nonsense 7-seater that can handle city roads and weekend getaways, this could be a strong new option.
